Landowners lock school in Gbl against Govt apathy | KNO

Ganderbal, Apr 07 (KNO): The students of over a dozen Government Schools at Hari Ganiwan zone in Gund Tehsil of District Ganderbal were forced to stay under open sky in scorching heat after the land owners locked the school buildings, demanding job or compensation as promised by the authorities. However, after the intervention of Tehsildar Gund and Station House Officer (SHO) police station Gund, the land owners unlocked the schools and allowed the students to resume normal class work. In a unique protest against official apathy, the land owners of the Government schools, a sper the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) locked dozens of government-run-schools as they have donated their land for the construction of school buildings and according to them they were promised either compensation for land or government job to one of the family member. The land donors association have unlocked the school buildings for the period of 10 days and warned to lock them again if their demands are not fulfilled—(KNO)
